BUYER GUIDE / PACKAGING

How to plan packaging without delaying production

Packaging is not the final decoration step. It affects formula compatibility, filling, transport, MOQ, cost and the production schedule.

The direct answer

Lock the functional packaging system before finalizing decoration. Confirm the product format, fill volume, container, closure and dispensing performance first; then approve colors, printing, labels and cartons.

A safer packaging sequence

  1. Define the product and fill: viscosity, fragrance level, alcohol content, fill volume and usage environment.
  2. Select the functional system: bottle or jar, pump or sprayer, cap, liner and seal.
  3. Review compatibility: check leakage, deformation, discoloration, dispensing and material interaction as appropriate.
  4. Confirm decoration: color coating, metallization, screen printing, label or other finish.
  5. Approve artwork: dielines, mandatory text, barcode, batch area and destination-market requirements.
  6. Confirm transport pack: inner protection, carton strength, case quantity and shipping method.

Common causes of delay

Ask for a written component approval list. Each item should identify the supplier reference, material, color, finish, quantity threshold and approval status.
